About us

PEI Transgender Network was created in 2017 in response to the gaps in supports and resources available to the Two-Spirit, transgender, gender diverse, non-binary + (2S/TGDNB+) community and their families.

We are proud to have assisted the development of the Gender Diversity Guidelines implemented in all Public Schools across PEI, as well as the establishment of PEI's first Gender Affirming Care Clinic.  We remain active in our advocacy and engagement with systems of influence such as: healthcare, education, government, and more!

We are a grassroots, non-profit organization that officially incorporated in 2021 in order to access funding to carry out the life saving and community enhancing work we do. We are committed to growth, while maintaining a trans-led organization; we uphold the common, yet crucial, sentiment of "nothing for us without us!"

Our Mission

We work to empower individuals and families, foster inclusive policies, and engage the broader public in creating a society that respects and uplifts gender diversity. Our work is rooted in relationship-building, accessibility, and intersectionality, ensuring everyone has the resources and support to thrive regardless of background or circumstance.

Our Vision is an inclusive Epekwitk where people of all gender identities can live freely, access affirming care, and thrive without barriers.

We envision a future where Two-Spirit, transgender, gender diverse, and non-binary+ (2STGDNB+) individuals experience full social, legal, and cultural recognition, with access to safe spaces, supportive networks, and equitable opportunities across all aspects of life.

Our MANDATE

PEI Transgender Network (PEITN) works to connect, support, and advocate for Two-Spirit, transgender, gender diverse, and non-binary+ (2STGDNB+) people across Epekwitk.

  • We connect community members with information, services, and affirming spaces by acting as a trusted resource and referral hub.

  • We support individuals through queer-led initiatives, practical guidance, and relationship building.

  • We advocate for policies and practices that improve the safety, inclusion, and well-being of trans and gender diverse people in PEI.

With a small team and a strong network, we focus on strategic impact over scope, prioritizing what we can do well while strengthening partnerships to extend our reach.

Our approach is community-centred, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive, ensuring we uplift those most impacted while sustaining our ability to serve effectively.
